Move OFF is a playful event designed to provide a space for encounters and uninhibited creativity for artists working in the field of dance. Its aim is to shine a spotlight on experimental and conceptual dance and performance, by providing an alternative space to showcase the richness of our practices.
Inspired by the spirit of the Phoque OFF festival/conference, the Move OFF team imagines a complement to RIDEAU’s showcases, showing the range of possibilities to deepen the discourse around dance practices and approaches in Quebec.
This first edition of Move OFF will take place on February 13, 2024 at 8:30pm, at La Charpente des Fauves in Quebec City’s Lower Town.
5 time slots of 5 minutes each will be allocated to selected artists. The 5 minutes can be danced, or can take the form of a pitch or presentation.
Selection process
With no artistic direction, the Move OFF team is orienting its selection process towards a desire for territorial representativeness.
Projects will be separated into three categories: Montreal, Quebec and the regions.
A draw will be made to ensure that these three categories are representative of the number of submissions received. (The aim is to ensure that these three categories are as representative as possible.)
At your disposal
A 500-square-foot stage space in a black box with hardwood floor, general lighting, sound system, microphone, stand and projector.
For submission, please send a short description of your pitch/extract/demonstration while including the artistic process behind the project presented, a bio and/or CV that situates you as a dance artist and a justification of why your participation in Move OFF is relevant at this time in your career.
