MONTRÉAL DANSE – The Drift arrives in Canada

Montréal Danse and steptext dance project are proud to announce that The Drift, a creation of choreographer Helge Letonja, will be offered as part of Parcours Danse on December 3 at 8pm at Maison de la culture Frontenac.

The Drift is a powerful dance piece by Helge Letonja with music from Kunsu Shim and Gerhard Stäbler performed on stage by the JugendEnsembleNeueMusik and with video images by Kyungwoo Chun. Former performer for Montréal Danse, Choreographer Helge Letonja is recognized for creating visually beautiful, emotionally provocative works. The Drift casts a view to an elementary community, to movements as the driving force of change, to the ocean as a memory storage, and to life that is bigger than we are.

The piece premiered at Theater am Pfalzbau in Ludwigshaffen on April 4-5 2012 then toured Germany, Italy and Ireland. It received a warm welcome from critics and the audience for its intensity and its pertinence.

It’s the first presentation of the piece in North America. The Drift is available for touring in 2014-2016, discussions are underway for tours in Quebec and in Mexico.
