PPS DANSE – At 2014 ASSITEJ World Congress!

PPS DANSE – At 2014 ASSITEJ World Congress!

From May 23 to 31, 2014, Pierre-Paul Savoie will participate in the 2014 ASSITEJ World Congress, to be held in Warsaw. Every three years, this major world congress brings together the driving forces behind theatrical creations for young audiences. Participants will evaluate developments in the discipline over the last few years and encouraged to plan actions around the world to improve practice conditions. The program also contains a broad array of activities: symposiums, training workshops and a festival to showcase the latest trends in performances created for young audiences.

The Congress, which will attract close to 1,600 people from 5 continents, provides a superb forum for fresh thinking and international dialogue on creating works for young audiences. The theme of this year’s congress is Facing the Audience. Particular attention will be paid to creations for three specific audiences: children 0 to 4 years old, teenagers and the marginalized. Pierre-Paul Savoie is participating this year in the hopes that it will nourish his artistic process and stimulate his thinking about young audience development, both at home and elsewhere.

PPS DANSE – The Chairs, A new creation

With Eugene Ionesco’s The Chairs, as adapted for children by Lise Vaillancourt, Pierre-Paul Savoie is continuing to develop his choreographic investigation of interactions between dance and theatre, drawing inspiration this time from the theatre of the absurd and tragicomedy. He is exploring the imagination as it stands in contrast to isolation and boredom. In this open space, dance and story meet to create a poetic farce that is marked by great humanity. This work for young audiences can be expected at the Cinquième Salle (Place des arts), December 14th, 2013.
