Montréal Danse

Company

Montréal Danse is a contemporary dance company under the artistic direction of Kathy Casey that produces contemporary dance performances with choreographers invited to create. They rethink, redefine and rework what dance is. Through a process of creating, questioning performance and the body, the company encourages bold ideas and helps discover ways to express and give them form.

Montréal Danse was founded in 1986 by Paul-André Fortier and Daniel Jackson in order to support and highlight the many Quebec choreographic voices emerging at the time. Since then, the company has invested in the creation of strong, demanding, striking works, constantly exploring new expressions in contemporary dance and sharing innovative creative processes. She has more than sixty works to her credit.

Kathy Casey brings to the company extensive experience gained as a performer with the American companies Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and Susan Marshall & Company. This solid knowledge allows the company to deploy listening skills, a willingness to question, stimulate, dare, support, collaborate and thus contribute to the development of the community.
